Snowball Skirmish Tourney Today - Official TeamsAugust 19th, 2009
Hey everyone. Just a reminder that the Snowball Skirmish tournament is today at 4pm PT/6pm CT/7pm ET. We’ll all be meeting at the Lizard Lounge in Webo Ridge to get things started. Karo and I will be there to run the tournament. Please do not leave the Lizard Lounge unless your team has been called to play. We will meet in the Cretaceous server.
Remember, each team member can only play one round so pick ahead of time who will go first, second and third. If you aren’t signed up on a team, feel free to come by, someone may need a backup.

Best Cave Competition Sign UpAugust 18th, 2009

This week's theme: Circles
Oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy! IT”S TIME FOR THE BEST CAVE COMPETITION ONCE AGAIN! You’ll have to excuse my excitement, after postponing it from last week I just can’t wait to do it again.
This week’s theme is circles. Yup, circles. You can use any objects you want, however many you want. Think circles and see what your imagination can come up with.
You know the drill, make a comment on this post with your name on it and your cave will be judged on Thursday. 1st place gets 400 coins and a Best Cave banner, 2nd place gets 300 coins and 3rd place gets 100. Can’t wait to see your caves!

Snowball Skirmish Tomorrow - Sign your team up now!August 18th, 2009
Okay gang we’re back with another tournament for you, this time it will be in team format! We’re gonna be playing Snowball Skirmish this time so you should feel lucky I won’t be entering! Hehe

Check out the new Volcano Trophies. They go in your cave. Totally Bluggin'
Here’s how it is going to work. There is a limited amount of space for the tournament. We will be taking a total of 8 teams with 3 members each. There are three rounds in the tournament, and a team member can only compete in one round. So the two teams that reach the finals will be using all three members. It’s up to the team to decide who will compete in what round.
Once you have figured out your teams, each person needs to post a comment to this post with their team name. As soon as everyone in your team has posted a comment with the team name, you will be entered in the competition. We will take the first 8 teams to register. If someone falls through by gametime, you can use a substitute.
We will be meeting in the Lizard Lounge at Webo Ridge at 6pm CT tomorrow (Wednesday, August 19th).
This is a great chance for your armies to make a name for themselves. If your army team wins you get the name in the blog, so get your best Snowball Skirmish crew together. It’s time for battle!

Daily Dino Fact: Keep your distanceAugust 18th, 2009

Q: Which dinosaur was the largest meat eater? -Blueknight1
A: Surprisingly it’s not Tyrannosaurus at all. T-Rex only the third largest theropod, sitting behind Giganotosaurus on the list. Spinosaurus is actually the largest theropod dinosaur to have ever walked the Mesozoic. These beasts grew up to 7 ft tall (2m) and 52-59 ft (16-18 m) in length. When all was said and done, Spinosaurus weighed between 8 and 10 tons! Not only that, but it had the longest skull of any theropod dinosaur, measuring about 6ft (1.75 m) long.
Some paleontologists think they were fishers, based on their long skull. Of course, European and South African Spinosaur fossils have shown evidence of Iguanodon bones in its stomach as well as fish scales. Whether it was a hunter or a fisher, this dinosaur was not to be messed with!

Daily Dino Fact: Hollow bonesAugust 17th, 2009

"Coelophysis" literally means "Hollow Form," in reference to its hollow bones
Today the Daily Dino Fact will be sharing some information on Aido’s favorite, a little dinosaur called coelophysis. While it may be confused with the compy, coelophysis is the small guy you saw in Jurassic Park 2, even though they mainly lived during the late Triassic (and early Jurassic). While they may not be intimidating by themselves, a pack of these fast bi-pedal theropods would have a good chance at taking down prey bigger than themselves.
They had large eyes and good eyesight, with long limbs they would use to accelerate and move quickly. Its name literally meant “hollow form” because of the dino’s hollow bones. The light bones would have made it a faster runner. It had a long, narrow head and a set of skinny, jagged teeth that it used to eat meat.
They were certainly the pipsqueaks among the larger dinosaurs, but their specialized adaptations made them able to take care of themselves just fine.

Hey dinos, so I’m sure you’ve heard talk of Webosaurs armies here and there. I know a few of you have even had meetings. Well, we just want you to know we think the armies are AWESOME and you should definitely join one if you haven’t already. If you have an army, please give a link on this post’s comment page and we’ll compile a list for everyone.
The only things we ask are:
-No Weapons
-No Violence
-No Threats
-Have Fun
In the future we’ll be having team events in Webosaurs where armies can compete against each other in various games. It should be loads of fun.
Also, I’ll be starting my own dino army pretty soon here. I’ll need people to run the blog and post, so keep your eye out for more information. March on, dino soldiers!

A: Of course it had to be a sauropod. Although it didn’t have the longest neck, mamenchisaurus had 19 vertebrae in its spine, more than any known dinosaur. A close cousin to diplodocus, mamenchisaurus was about 21m (70 ft) long and kept its neck parallel to the ground.
Paleontologists hypothesize that its long, horizontally-held neck could reach deep into forests to eat vegetation they normally couldn’t get to. They also think the necks could have been used to eat horsetails, club mosses and ferns found in wetlands.

Okay dinos, I’ll make this short and sweet.
Today we are going to be having our first ever gaming tournament in Webosaurs. It’s going to be crazy, it’s going to be insane, it’s going to be a true test of a dino’s might.
We’ll be meeting in the Hillside Canopy (in the Triassic server) today at 4pm PT/6pm CT/7pm ET for some serious PATAGONIAN POWER LIFTING!
You have to be there by 10 minutes past the hour to get your name in the tournament bracket so don’t be late. We’ll have prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Be prepared dinos, it’s time to show your true power.

Q: What dino had the biggest egg?

A: It’s hard to say what dinosaur eggs belonged to a certain species unless other fossils are recovered from the nesting site, but most paleontologists assume they came from sauropods. The largest dinosaur egg ever found (pictured above) came from China and measures 43cm (16.9in) by 14.5cm (5.7in). Regular sauropod eggs are about 48 times bigger than a chicken’s.
The first recorded discovery of dinosaur eggs comes from France in 1859. Since then, important finds have been made in at least 220 different localities around the world.
